Infinite + Immutable
Infinite
God is infinite, having no limits, nor is He limited by space, location or vastness. He cannot be classified by amounts such as much or many; rather, He is boundless (having no boundaries) and measureless; He is completely immense (Isaiah 40:12-15, 21-26). He is above, outside, beyond all there is. Nothing can contain Him (1 Kings 8:27). Likewise, God’s infinitude can be multiplied across his other perfections – such as His being infinitely glorious, having unending beauty and radiance (Hebrews 1:3). Being infinite, He is also invisible, an unseen Spirit (John 4:24). In Jesus, God incarnate as a Man, the infinite and invisible God reveals His image and likeness in forms to which we can relate (Col. 1:15-17; Heb. 1:2-4).
Immutable
God is unchanging and unchangeable in that He is never learning, growing, developing nor inconsistent. He is not getting better or worse (Mal. 3:6; James 1:17). Even still, He is not immobile and inactive, and our perceptions of His changing or shifting is evident of our limited perspective and not His essential character. Since His character does not change, His promises will never fail (2 Timothy 2:13).
