Moral Perfections: God is Holy
Holy
Holiness speaks of wholeness—God is completely complete. It also denotes purity, perfection, sinlessness (absence of sin or evil; 1 John 1:5). God is set apart from all that is common and unclean (Hab. 1:12-13; Lev. 11:45; 1 Pet. 1:15-16). He possesses unequaled uniqueness (Isaiah 40:25), as He is set apart from all other things (Isaiah 57:15). Because of God’s unique holiness He will not share His glory with any other (Isaiah 48:11). Of all His perfections, God’s holiness ought to bring us to a complete sense of awe and wonder. The goal of our awareness of God’s holiness is to lead us into God-centered worship and adoration (Psalm 99:5).
