Fun with RSS

I use RSS, and I think you should too.

In fact I don’t know what I would do without RSS . Really Simple Syndication that is. I use it daily, and probably in dozens of ways. (Primarily in Google Reader , so I don’t have to visit dozens of websites to know what is going on in the news, with friends, in ministry, theologically, etc.) It is not as important as Christ, as His Gospel, or the Church, but it is relatively important on the small scale in organization and being more efficient and effective.

Last Sunday we gave a Web Survey to our congregation seeking feedback on how they utilize our church website, and how they would in the future if we did more with it. (We want to be more efficient and effective in how we communicate as a church and reach out in our community. A cool and fancy website is not an end, but rather a website is a tool — a means — one end goal being growth in Christ, knowing, loving and enjoying God and one another increasingly.)

During the Survey there were understandably many blank stares and "I don’t know what this is" comments on the margins next to RSS. It can be complex and confusing. But does it have to be? After all, the first two letters stand for Really Simple!

Is May 1st really RSS day? LOL

I’m with it in regards to so many things and would you believe I haven’t utilized RSS in my life. I keep saying I will, so I guess the time is now.

I was just visiting the site again and reading some of the posts. Great stuff!

  • What is deTheos?

The two Greek words de ("but") and Theos ("God") are the first two words of Ephesians 2:4: "But God, who is rich in mercy..." Because of God's great love and grace extending to us in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, redeemed and able to know, love + enjoy God more fully, ever-increasing and forever.
This site contains the thoughts and conclusions and journeys of the Patterson family -- Jeff, Kari and Dutch -- who have experienced the front-end of God's amazing grace, and continue to delight in His unfailing love.
