Next Friday Dutch turns one year old. In the next few days I will be posting short memories of our son from his first year. My chief privileges in life are being a husband, and now a father. Dutch has been very patient with me this year, helping me to grow in my understanding and nurturing of my little boy. Thank God for His all-sufficient grace. And thank God for our Dutcher! We found Dutch’s brush in the driveway yesterday; apparently he dropped it while on a walk with Mommy the day before. Also, apparently the neighbor dog chewed it up. So, after washing it and cleaning it up, we gave it back to Dutch and he of course likes it so much. I think the teeth marks on it are going to be quite the conversation starter! We wanted to share with you, our family, why we do what we do. It may seem that a baby dedication is merely a religious ritual, a tradition to follow. In some ways, it is. We see the value of traditions that celebrate and affirm Dutch. We want him to know that he is valued, loved, and celebrated. We will spend our lives affirming him and this is a first step. But, this is really the secondary reason we are having him...
