True, Righteous + Faithful
True, Righteous & Faithful
God is the only true God (John 17:3). He is completely consistent in character, unfailing in faithfulness, and always does with is right in every situation (Deut. 32:4; 1 Cor. 1:9). He cannot lie (Titus 1:2). His promises and covenants, when they are unconditional, are always performed (2 Tim. 2:13), and nothing lacks in His reliability (Rom. 3:4; Heb. 6:18).
Moral Perfections: God is Holy
Holy
Holiness speaks of wholeness—God is completely complete. It also denotes purity, perfection, sinlessness (absence of sin or evil; 1 John 1:5). God is set apart from all that is common and unclean (Hab. 1:12-13; Lev. 11:45; 1 Pet. 1:15-16). He possesses unequaled uniqueness (Isaiah 40:25), as He is set apart from all other things (Isaiah 57:15). Because of God’s unique holiness He will not share His glory with any other (Isaiah 48:11). Of all His perfections, God’s holiness ought to bring us to a complete sense of awe and wonder. The goal of our awareness of God’s holiness is to lead us into God-centered worship and adoration (Psalm 99:5).
Unity
Unity
God is uniquely One (Deuteronomy 6:4). He is the only God to ever exist, and while He exists in the eternal Trinity, He remains one indivisible God (1 Cor. 8:6; Eph. 4:6; 1 Tim. 2:5). As God is One, the Persons of the Trinity are not separate essences within the one divine essence (John 17:11).

Transcendent yet Immanent
Transcendent yet Immanent
God is distinct and separate from His creation (John 8:23). His being, thoughts and ways transcend time, space, human thoughts and all matter (Isaiah 55:8-9). While wholly separate from His creation (Isaiah 6:1-5), God is active and present (Jer. 23:24) within nature, human nature and history (Acts 17:27-28). He is immanent in the universe, specifically working out His wise program and plan. Related to His work as the self-sustaining Creator, God is near His creation to sustain it, for all things are dependent upon Him (Job 34:14-15; Matt. 5:45; 6:25-30; 10:29-30).
Omnipotent + Sovereign
Omnipotent
God is all-powerful, for He is able to do anything. Since His power has no limit, His might and ability are infinite. No action is beyond His ability – except those against His moral character and not according to His perfect wisdom.
Sovereign
God possesses all authority (Matthew 28:18); His dominion is everlasting (Daniel 4:34-35). With his infinite power He is able to do whatever He pleases; in His sovereignty He has the rights as King of all to do all His good pleasure (Psalm 115:3; 135:6). He does all things according to the good pleasure of His will (Ephesians 1:11), and nothing happens outside of His control.
