Heidi

Welcome to this world, our beautiful daughter. May Christ captivate you with His infinite beauty and we pray you will be caught up in His plan and glory. We don’t deserve you or Dutch; utterly amazed at God’s kindness in being able to raise you to know, love and enjoy Him above all else.

Oh no!

Dutch is putting words together at an incredible rate. Yet, his favorite phrase is “oh no!”

Yesterday he started lengthened the expression to:

“Oh no! What’s that?”

Playing inside

While it is snowing lots outside, Dutch found some respite playing in the store and at home. Watch…

First, the store:

Then, at home with his new car garage (thank you Grandma + Grandpa!):

Two in two

In two days the little Dutcher turns two. Yeah, it’s a big deal…

This morning over oatmeal we asked him, “Dutch, how old are you?”

His answer:

“Two!”

Ah, our boy genius!

Celebrating a first sentence

Dutch coloringLeft home this morning and our son said his first sentence ever (in response to a question from Mommy):

“No, I want Dada.”

After I left he started a coloring project for me (Daddy) to see when I get home tonight. Kari sent this picture of him creating.

The drummer boy

Dutch dropped by Daddy’s office and the drum set off in the corner. He’s quite the percussionist — watch …

Txt is good

Yesterday I stayed home in the morning to wake up with Dutch and read and play with him, knowing that I wouldn’t see him at the end of the day as had high school group.

At dinner time I sent a text message to Kari: “Tell Dutch daddy loves him.” She said that when Dutch heard the phone beep he said “Dada.” Then they took this picture — Dutch folding his hands in his “I love you” sign. Makes a father’s heart melt.

A brilliant son’s burgeoning vocab

Dutch is mastering these words:

  • His name
  • Dadda
  • Mama
  • dumptruck
  • dump & truck (those two as completely separate, in different contexts)
  • water (”wahwah”)
  • “dump it” (referring to water)
  • wall
  • car (Bostonian accent and all, “cah”)
  • Oma
  • Nana
  • Papa
  • and today he spontaneously said “Bible” (clear as day, over and over!)
Walking in Daddy’s shoes

Here’s a video of Dutch having some fun in Daddy’s shoes, at the end of Daddy’s big first day of work.
